DESIGN INTENT
In the 1960s and 70s, speakers were physically large and designed to move air easily. They produced sound with scale and dynamics that smaller systems struggle to reproduce.
Tufnel set out to bring that sense of scale back into a modern loudspeaker. At the same time, it retains the precision expected from contemporary hi-fi.
The result sits between two worlds:

High Frequency Transducer
1.4inch compression driver coupled to our proprietary horn. Its geometry promotes controlled directivity and smooth dispersion.
Leather
Finished in full-grain leather, the front panel adds durability and softens the visual presence of the cabinet.
Stand
Fabricated from aluminium, providing a rigid foundation and correct listening height.
Low Frequency Transducer
A high-efficiency 15-inch woofer provides extended low-frequency output with minimal distortion, delivering scale and impact without loss of control.
Cabinet
Crafted from solid timber and high-density composite, the enclosure is heavily braced to control resonance and provide a stable acoustic platform.

The Tufnel is designed to operate as a true full-range loudspeaker in open, architectural environments.

DESIGN & MATERIALS
The cabinet is built as a rigid, structural enclosure rather than a lightweight shell.
Solid timber and leather are selected for acoustic performance, durability, and how they wear over time.
Each system is finished by hand, with materials chosen to suit the space it will live in.
SK96 HORN
The SK96 horn is designed to maintain wide, even dispersion across the listening area.
Its geometry is based on an oblate spheroidal expansion, refined to keep off-axis response smooth and predictable.
This allows the system to maintain tonal balance and clarity beyond a single listening position.
15" Low-Frequency Driver
A 15-inch driver provides high displacement with low distortion.
The larger radiating area allows the system to produce bass with weight and headroom, even at lower listening levels.
GRILLE
Removable grille designed to remain acoustically transparent.

Integrated amplification and DSP provide crossover control, time alignment, and system protection.
BESPOKE FINISHES

Materials are chosen in response to the space.
Integrated Electronics
The active system integrates amplification and DSP within the cabinet.
Each driver is powered and controlled independently, allowing precise crossover control, time alignment, and system protection.
Analog and digital inputs allow integration into a wide range of systems.
A passive version is also available for use with external amplification.

Fully analogue crossover with fourth-order acoustic slopes and resonant compensation networks for precise driver integration. 8-ohm nominal, 800 watt peak power and 400 watt continuous power handling.
Active Version
Integrated Hypex Ncore amplification with advanced digital signal processing. Capped at 800 watt peak power.
Balanced XLR, RCA, and digital inputs (AES, S/PDIF, Optical).
Time alignment, protection, and optimized crossover processing built in.
Selectable sound profiles available.
HANDMADE IN AUSTRALIA
Each system is built to order in Sydney by a small team of craftsmen. Production is intentionally limited to maintain consistency and quality. Speakers are assembled in matched pairs and individually finished.
