ded bass output, delivering a big, full sound with lifelike dynamics.

Cabinet: Crafted from solid timber and high-density composite, the enclosure is heavily braced to control resonance and withstand the forces generated by the driver. The result is a stable acoustic platform and a clean, uncoloured presentation.

Woofer: A high-efficiency 15-inch driver provides extended low-frequency output with minimal distortion, delivering scale and impact without sacrificing control.

Horn: The compression driver is coupled to a proprietary horn developed in-house and cast from polymer resin. Its geometry promotes controlled directivity and smooth dispersion, allowing the system to energise a room evenly without harsh reflections.

Leather: Finished in Australian or Italian full-grain leather, the front panel introduces a tactile, architectural surface that softens the visual presence of the cabinet while improving durability over time.

Stand: Fabricated from steel plate and precision welded, the stand provides a rigid foundation and positions the speaker at the correct listening height.

Large Format

A full-scale loudspeaker system

A true full-range system designed for rooms of substance.

The Tufnel combines high efficiency, controlled dispersion, and substantial cabinet volume to deliver sound with scale, composure, and realism across the entire room.

Design & Materials

Hand-finished in solid timber and premium leather, the Tufnel is constructed as a structural object rather than a decorative cabinet.

Each material is selected for its acoustic behavior, durability, and ability to age gracefully within a space.

SK96 Horn

Wide dispersion with precise control

The proprietary SK96 horn defines the Tufnel’s sonic identity, projecting sound that fills the room with effortless authority rather than confining it to a single listening position.

Operating from the upper midrange into the highest frequencies, it allows vocals and instruments to emerge with exceptional presence and realism, maintaining coherence and stability across the entire listening area.

Engineered Dispersion

The horn profile is derived from an advanced oblate spheroidal expansion, refined to produce exceptionally smooth off-axis response and a natural, balanced presentation within real rooms.

This geometry maintains uniform dispersion across the listening area, allowing sound to remain coherent, detailed, and stable well beyond a single listening position. Instead of projecting a narrow beam, the system energises the space evenly while preserving clarity and tonal integrity throughout.

15" Low-Frequency Driver

A large 15-inch woofer provides effortless scale and authority, moving air with ease to create a foundation of sound that feels both powerful and controlled.

Music gains a sense of physical presence and dynamic freedom that smaller systems struggle to convey, revealing space, impact, and nuance often compressed by the limited radiating area of smaller systems

Textured Presence

Up close, the materials speak for themselves. Hand finished surfaces, leather detailing, and precisely machined components create an object defined by restraint and permanence, a quiet presence designed to endure.

Available Configurations

The Tufnel is available as a fully active system with high-performance amplification integrated within the cabinet, or as a passive version designed for use with external amplification.

The passive configuration suits those who wish to pair the speaker with their own electronics, including low-powered tube amplifiers, allowing complete freedom in system design.

The active version provides a turn-key solution, with a powerful built-in amplifier delivering seamless integration, precise control, and maximum performance.

Bespoke Finishes

Each Tufnel system is individually built using carefully selected materials, including solid timbers, leather, and custom finishes.

Developed in dialogue with the space, every piece is crafted to integrate with its surroundings, becoming part of the architecture rather than simply placed within it.

Integrated Electronics

The active Tufnel system integrates reference-grade amplification and precision digital processing within the cabinet, creating a fully engineered loudspeaker rather than a collection of components.

Each driver is powered and controlled independently, delivering effortless dynamics, exceptional clarity, and consistent performance at any listening level.

Analog and digital inputs allow seamless integration into modern systems, while intelligent power management ensures the speaker is always ready without requiring manual operation.

A passive configuration is also available for those who prefer external amplification. While this offers greater flexibility in system design, the active system represents the reference performance, optimized through advanced filtering, time alignment, and protection tailored specifically to the drivers.

Handmade in Australia

Each Tufnel is built to order in Sydney by a small team of specialist craftsmen, combining traditional handwork with advanced acoustic engineering. Production is intentionally limited to ensure exceptional quality, precision, and consistency.

Speakers are assembled in matched pairs and individually finished, from the SK96 horn to the leather and timber surfaces. Every element is executed with the care normally reserved for fine furniture or musical instruments.

The result is not a mass produced audio product, but a permanent object designed to perform beautifully and endure for decades.
